Golf Driving Tips
I am a 15 year old girl and I play most weekends but I really want to get my drives longer, I think this would drastically improve my game. I was wondering if there were any suggestions as too what I could do to get a longer distance. I am about 5 ft 6 and I occasionally work out. Essentially — You might want to consider looking into a higher launch angle. Slower swing speed higher launch angle. Faster swing speed lower launch ange. Also make sure you have the right shaft flex. Invest in better balls,. . They work.
Lengthen your swing. Smooth out the kinks. Hip turn and patience.
i was tlod to take the club back low to the ground giving you a wider arc thus generating more clubhead spead
you should never try swinging yourself off your feet when you are hitting your drives straight and fairly long thats all you need just keep it in play and on the short grass and really work on your chipping and putting as this is were you score
that saying is true drive for show putt for dough
I got a new driver bout 3 months ago If you find one that you can change the weights in it GET IT. it will stop you slicing and hooking.
Go to notice a pro. .
No one can help you without having seen your swing. .
That's the best help I can give you.
Key to hitting it further is more clubhead speed. You can achieve that in a variety of ways. Get stronger, get taller (longer arms equal longer arc equal more speed). But remember golf is not about how far you hit the ball, it is about how many times you hit the ball.
Try to immulate Lorena Ochoa's drive. She can out drive almost anyone on the LPGA tour.
A golf pro might be able to help. It might be a swing change or an equipment change. Most short drivers think they need to hit the ball lower so they go for a lower lofted driver. They would be better off hitting 3-wood or getting a driver with 11 or 12 degrees of loft. Launch angle is important. You didn't say how far you do drive it and whether or not you usually hit it straight. I hit it further than most of the guys I play with but most of them hit it straighter so they have a good look for their approach shot while I'm scrambling to get back into play. What I'm getting at is that hitting shorter but straighter can lead to better scores, especially if you can chip and putt well. Good luck.
I would tell you to not get too caught up in how far you're driving the ball. I know lots of great players who are short off the tee. If you're not powerful, you have to beat other players with a different formula. Drive it straight, accurate iron game, with a great short game and putting. Your time and effort would be better spent mastering these other components of your game and not losing sleep over driving distance. More great players have been ruined by trying to make changes for extra distance than vice verca. Good Luck!!
You should see a club pro that can also make sure your driver is properly fit.
Other than that, you can try an impact bag. Get a duffle bag filled with pillows and what not and place just beyond your front foot. Take an old club and try to hit the bag as hard as you can. To do this the fastest and hardest way possible you should start to feel what creating lag feels like. This can also help you understand the proper pivot. If you swing all arms the bag won't be hit very hard.
